Electrical Controls Engineer

Manpower are currently recruiting for a Controls Engineer based in the Newcastle area with some offshore work.

The role of the Controls Engineer is to design, create and test PLC and HMI programs and support the design and test of the overall system. The role covers the entire project life cycle including offshore work in order to support commissioning and in-service equipment.

Some of the duties that will be included in this role are as follows:

  • System design
  • Identifying customer and project requirements and liaise with Electrical, Hydraulic and Mechanical designers.
  • Production of design documentation and test procedures.
  • Programming (design, write and bench test PLC and HMI programs)
  • Carry out controlled factory testing of systems to formal test procedures, including documenting results.
  • Carry out controlled commissioning of systems to formal test procedures and ad-hoc support to in-service equipment.
  • Ensure PPE and risk assessment are followed.
  • Ensure that IHC, FHP and SHEQ procedures are followed.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator both verbally and written, as well as being educated to a Degree level. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Siemens S7 PLC and HMI Hardware and Software, Mitsubishi PLC and HMI and experience of project work Offshore (or within a similar industrial engineering domain) would be advantageous.

This is a great opportunity to work for a well-established that are looking to pay £35,000 - £38,000 Per Annum.
